Rush Down inverts the distance platformer by focusing on falling as far as possible. Unlike the casual platformers where players have to guide their avatar to the skies, Rush Down requires players to scale down platforms while avoiding hazards and collecting coins for powerups.
Utilizing the "scribble" graphic style, the game presents a stick man as the main character. With the accelerometer, tilting left and right will control descent. Collecting coins gives players a timed charged descent where they will crash through anything in their way. Rush Down also includes different powerups in the levels that can be collected like shields and cannons that will propel the stick man down the level.
Rush Down is a simplistic, yet addictive casual app. It does not require a lot of technical skill, but fast reflexes so the avatar do not get crushed by the top of the screen. It also supports leaderboards to compare scores with other players.
Fans of distance platformers will enjoy Rush Down. The change from ascent to descent feels strange at first, but Rush Down increases the challenge by introducing constant pressure on players.
